Qualified Fall Protection Engineering Training

about

QUALIFIED FALL PROTECTION ENGINEER (QUALIFIED PERSON) TRAINING

As the chair and principal Author of CSA Z259.16 which was subsequently adopted almost verbatim as the first edition of ANSI Z359,6 (both standards are for the “Design of Active Fall Protection Systems”), Greg is in a unique position to explain not only the history of the requirements of these standards, but to derive the relevant formulae contained in them, providing students with the understanding and tools needed to design systems in compliance with these standards which typically greatly exceed OSHA requirements. He is able to teach the differences between the standards and the OSHA regulations, assumptions to be used in analysis, and the latest problems and innovations the standards committees, manufacturers and users are grappling with. The course provides powerful software to accurately analyze the behavior of a wide variety of fall protection systems. Greg demonstrates all of the calculation techniques before asking students to undertake calculations themselves in the multiple practice exercises contained in the course manual.

This course is mainly intended for Engineers, although any person with good High School level Mathematics and Physics can successfully complete it.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Greg modified his course so that it could also be taught in a web format, and during the Covid shutdown, has delivered this version approximately once a month so students can receive this valuable training from the safety of their own homes or offices rather than travelling to the various venues it was previously taught at.

In support of his training courses, Greg periodically offers Free Webinars so potential attendees can both learn advanced topics in Fall Protection and experience the depth of knowledge that Greg offers. Topics include, “How to specify Fall Protection to get what you need”, “Clearance Calculations Made Easy”, and “The Personal Energy Absorber Equation”. Note that upon his retirement from High Engineering Corp, Greg was approached by 3M Fall Protection to offer his Qualified Fall Protection Engineer (Qualified Person) training at their venues in the US and Canada.

Greg is available outside of 3M to offer his training when there are sufficient number of students and can be contacted at Small@EIEL.org to arrange client specific courses or to attend open enrollment courses in Canada, open enrollment training (including web training) In the US courses should be booked with 3M.
