ELEVATED INSIGHT AND ENGINEERING LTD.

ELEVATED INSIGHT AND ENGINEERING LTD. was formed in 2016 upon retirement of Greg Small, PE, .Eng., M.Eng. and the sale of his prior Company, High Engineering Corp (HEC), to Parsons Engineering Ltd. HEC was subsequently sold to Key Safety in 2018.

Greg is highly respected as one of the world’s leading experts in Fall Protection. More than 1/3 of all presenters at recent International Society of Fall Protection conferences have attended his training.

In semi-retirement, Greg continues to work part-time to fund his passion for travel and his volunteer activities on the ANSI Z359 and CSA Z259 committees. Although Greg has stepped away from routine engineering of Fall Protection, Elevated Insight and Engineering continues to offer services in his unique areas of expertise.

3M Fall Protection  has retained Greg to offer its Qualified Person training in the US and Canada. In addition to his work with 3M, he offers world-class expertise in other aspects of Fall Protection, through Elevated Insight and Engineering Ltd.

Greg Small, PE, P.Eng., M.Eng.

Greg has nearly 40 years of hands-on experience in the design and testing of Active Fall Protection Systems. With over three decades of active participation, writing, and chairing of CSA Z259 and ANSI Z359 Standards in Canada and the US, Greg’s fingerprints are deeply woven into their technical content. His fundamental contributions include leadership and of the first and subsequent editions of Canadian and American standards for “Design of Active Fall Protection Systems,” “Horizontal Lifelines,” and “Anchorage Connectors,” with lesser, but significant, contributions to many of the other standards.

Greg has a deep technical and historical understanding of how fall protection works, or should and perhaps could work. He is uniquely able to explain why things are (or should be done) in particular ways, and in some cases, why we need to improve what we do.

Now that Greg is semi-retired, he is either enjoying life and vacations with his wife Milena or earning money for his next trip by teaching “Qualified Fall Protection Engineer” courses to the next generation. He also serves as a forensic investigator and expert witness and helps manufacturers develop innovative fall protection products and systems.”
